I have a short beard and I like to keep it short. It makes life easy, I don’t have to shave every day and if I am very conscious I would trim to a max size of 5mm every Sunday or Monday. I started when Norelco was an independent manufacturer. I fell in love with my first trimmer. When it died, I bought a Philips Norelco beard trimmer that had vacuum to suck the hairs so I wouldn’t mess up the washroom sink. I wasn’t impressed. Then came cordless trimmers. These are nice but I feel the rechargeable battery dies before the blades lose sharpness.
I would be shopping for a beard trimmer this Black Friday. I have been looking at Amazon and have shortlisted a few. Here is a list of my findings. Please post a comment below if you agree or disagree with my choice.
Remington All-in-One Grooming Kit, Lithium Powered, 8 Piece Set with Trimmer
First in the list of top beard trimmers is this Remington All-In-One Grooming Kit. This trimmer has good consumer ratings and is under $30. It comes with 8 attachments, it looks like you can use this as hair clipper too. This trimmer comes with self-sharpening steel blades for long-lasting durability. Off-course all the attachments can be washed under the faucet. It promises a 70 minute run time on a full charge. That sounds good. It comes with a storage pouch for travel and safe from dust. Philips Multigroom Series 3000 Cordless Trimmer with 10 Trimming Accessories
This Phillips groomer has good ratings as well. Comes ready to trim mustaches and beard and comes with 1 nose & ear Rotary Trimmer too. It comes with 13 accessories including beard trimming guards and 3 hair trimming guards. Delivers 60 minutes of run time on a full charge and promises 5 minutes of quick charge. However, it needs 8 hours for a full charge, comes with Automatic voltage and can be used at 100-240 Volts. Having a wide range of acceptable voltage is excellent for travelers as a lot of countries use 220 as default voltage on power outlets. It comes with Self-Sharpening steel blades, that can be washed too. Check it here https://amzn.to/2O8i8Z0
Philips Beard Trimmer, Series 5000
This one has good ratings too, with over 256 ratings and 4+ starts this does get my attention too. Compared to other, this one seems to have the most length-settings. I wonder if it can be used as hair clipper too since it comes with 17 length settings. It can run for 60 minutes with a 1hour charge. It comes with double sharpened blades. Braun BT3020 Perfect Beard Trimmer
This one promises lifelong sharp blades and delivers 40 minutes of runtime after being charged for 10 hours. Honestly this is not impressive. This trimmer is travel friendly and supports a wide range of voltage 100-240 volts, this would work in countries that have 220 volts. Check it here: https://amzn.to/347e1Ss
Braun Multigroom Mg5090 Trimmer
This Trimmer from BRAUN is a Shaver + Trimmer, and it is Waterproof. It can trimm 4 exact lenghts 1.2mm, 2.8mm, 4.4mm and 6mm. The head of this trimmer can twist to give perfect trim for all contours. I am starting to like it already. With 1 hour of charge it can give you 30minutes of cordless performance. I wonder if this can be used without the rechargeable battery. Blades on my last trimmer were still sharp but the battery wouldn’t hold a charge. I wish I could still use the trimmer with power cord.https://amzn.to/2KFiN1O
What would I go for!
I am going to go for the Philips Multi-Groom 3000 series because:
- It supports 110-240volts https://amzn.to/335X09V
- Can be quickly recharged for a trim
- Under $30
